Miracle Worker

Blind and deaf after suffering a terrible fever as a baby, young Helen Keller has spent years unable to communicate, leaving her frustrated and occasionally violent. As a last chance before she is institutionalized, her parents contact a school for the blind, which sends half-blind Annie Sullivan to teach Helen. Helen is initially resistant, but Annie gradually forms a bond with her and shows Helen ways of reaching others.

Lone Star

          Roy, a brawny, macho type, is back in town after a hitch in Vietnam and trying to reestablish his position in the community. Joined by his younger brother, Ray (who worships him), Roy sets about consuming a case of beer while regaling Ray with tales of his military exploits. With the arrival of Cletis, newlywed son of the local hardware store owner, the underpinnings of Roy's world begin to collapse as it gradually comes out that Ray had slept with his brother's wife during his absence, and has just demolished his cherished Thunderbird.

The Importance of Being Earnest

          Two young gents have taken to bending the truth in order to put some excitement into their lives. Worthing has invented a brother, Earnest, whom he uses as an excuse to leave his dull life behind to visit Gwendolyn. Montcrieff decides to take the name Earnest when visiting Worthing's young and beautiful ward, Cecily. Things start to go awry when they end up together in the country and their deceptions are discovered.

Be My Baby

          Mary, a well-to-do 19-year-old, whose single indiscretion has landed her in a dour dormitory with only her portable record-player for comfort. Given the current tendency of female singers to emulate the lacquer-and-lashes look of 1960s pop stars, she has a surprisingly contemporary style: very up the Duffy, one might say.
